Want to See One of Kate and Will's Wedding Gifts?

Kate and Will have decided to skip a formal wedding registry, and instead are requesting that well-wishers donate to one of the organizations listed on their charitable gift fund website.*
But that's not going to stop the flood of extravagant custom gifts that typically accompany a
royal wedding. One gift they'll be receiving is the custom perfume set pictured above. The Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie of Harrods has commissioned perfumer Clive Christian to create a unique presentation of his and hers No. 1 Perfumes (a.k.a. the World's Most Expensive Perfume, at $5,500 for 1 oz. of pure perfume) for Kate and Will. The hand-cut crystal bottles, each etched in gold with the couple's initials and featuring a diamond in the collar, will be presented side by side in a black case hand-embroidered with the royal coat of arms.
The Clive Christian collection is actually a revival of the oldest perfume house in Britain, the Crown Perfumery, which has a long history with the royal family—Queen Victoria honored it in 1872 when she granted the company the right to use the image of her crown. When Christian took over in 1999, he created the No. 1 Perfume, of which only 1,000 bottles are released each year. The men's scent contains notes of ancient Indian sandalwood and Arabian jasmine sambac, while the women's fragrance features Indian jasmine, Tahitian vanilla, rose, and orchids. (Katie Holmes wore it when she married Tom Cruise.) And if you've got an extra $865 lying around and feel the urge to douse yourself in the regal fragrance as well, the No. 1 Perfume spray is available at Bergdorf Goodman. —Lauren Matthews
*Thought giving to charities in lieu of asking for gifts was standard royal practice? It's not—Kate and Will are actually the first British royals to ask solely for donations. (Princess Diana and Prince Charles had a wedding gift registry that included such items as a gourmet barbecue set and a pair of cockatoos—yes, cockatoos.)
